Attention couples – the vacation of your dreams! 💕

Happy Thursday Hidden Gem Travel community! How did you celebrate Valentines Day yesterday, if you did? Or perhaps you’re celebrating this weekend? Couples (or romance) travel comes has many options. I work with honeymoon couples, anniversary couples, small groups of couples who are friends, and empty nest couples – basically the full gamut. Whether married or ‘significant others,’ going on a special vacation is something couples can do to keep their connection alive.

In this third edition of ‘wet February,’ I have a trip suggestion for couples who love to be on the water – a yacht vacation. These experiences also fall under the main bucket of ‘cruises’ but yachts are much smaller than other ocean vessels and can get into small ports and coves unlike their big ship counterparts. Yes, it’s an upscale vacation but it’s one that you will always remember. You can charter your own yacht or join a small group of like-minded yachters, the choice is yours.

Read on for the scoop with information and inspiration for yacht cruising, week three of ‘wet February’…

Popular Yacht Cruise Itineraries

There’s a wide range of yacht cruise itineraries that will speak to couples of all ages including the Greek Islands, Croatian Islands, the French Riviera with St. Tropez, Italy’s coastline, the Mediterranean coastline, Spain’s Balearic Islands, fjords of Norway, the Galapagos Islands, French Polynesia, and more.

Here’s a sample 7 day itinerary of the Caribbean that’s particularly romantic from my partners at SeaDream…

Day 1 – Philipsburg, Sint Maarten

Embark on your voyage in Sint Maarten, the Dutch Caribbean’s most European destination, and stroll lively Philipsburg before indulging in a Thai-certified massage at the SeaDream Spa. Enjoy your choice of á la minute cuisine and wines from your sommelier’s curated list as SeaDream II sets sail this evening. In true yachting style, all guests may dine together at the same time either indoors or al fresco.

Day 2 – Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda

In the Virgin Gorda, open-air safari wagons carry you to The Baths, an intriguing group of sea caves and unusual rock formations, spectacularly set on an otherworldly beach. Today, you can also explore Leverick Bay, a magnificent blue lagoon, snorkel its turquoise waters, or discover the nearby Coppermine Ruins and Gorda Peak National Park.

Day 3 – White Bay, Jost van Dyke

At the sound of the yacht’s horn, let the bubbles flow! SeaDream’s Champagne and Caviar Splash™ bursts on the beaches of sheltered White Bay.

Day 4 – Norman Island

Explore the hidden bays and water-level caves of Norman Island, where snorkeling and kayaking opportunities abound.

Day 5 – Sandy Ground, Anguilla

Begin your day with yoga and Thai chi on deck at sunrise, and then spend the day taking in the awe-inspiring coral reefs and fascinating flora and fauna of Sandy Ground. Back on board, enjoy SeaDream’s highly attentive service from your personal crew members in al fresco understated elegance. This afternoon, we sail into St. Barths for an overnight stay to take in the French-infused evening ambience of the island.

Day 6 – Gustavia, St. Barths

St. Barths’ turquoise waters are the perfect playground to enjoy SeaDream’s signature Watersports Marina Platform–equipped with a new water slide and all the watersports equipment required for a proper yachting vacation. There’s plenty of time to explore St. Barths’ incredible beaches, restaurants, and shopping, only steps away from the pier, accessed by your private tender.

Day 7 – Charlestown, Nevis

A day spent discovering historic Charlestown brings your itinerary to its delightful conclusion before disembarking in lively St. John’s, Antigua.

What’s the Best Yacht Cruise for You?

There is a range of yacht cruise lines that continues to grow with the popularity of cruising by yacht. Sea Dream, The Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection, Sea Cloud (sailing ship), and others.

Newcomer, Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection, offers itineraries in the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Northern Europe and Baltic Region, and Transatlantic Crossings. The experience is truly modern and luxurious on all three ships with under 500 guests onboard with you. This small size allows you to embrace the yachting lifestyle with ultra personalized service and world-class specialty restaurants and spacious suites, each with a private terrace.

How about cruising around Iceland for a week? It’s far more luxurious than driving!

A transatlantic crossing, allowing you to skip the long flight home from Europe, can take you from Lisbon, Portugal to Fort Lauderdale, Florida including port stops in Maderia (gorgeous island off Portugal) and the Bahamas.

💎Hidden Gem Tip: Bottom line – the best cruise for you is uncovered with professional help. Reach out to me any time about ocean (and river, yacht, and expedition cruises).

Yacht Charters

When you charter your own yacht, as opposed to joining a sailing with others, the options and process vary by destination and is quite detailed. I partner with experts who offer:

  • Fully customizable experiences: Yacht trips are the most luxurious and memorable way to travel, offering exclusivity, privacy, and a completely customizable experience for every guest onboard.
  • Land and sea: Go beyond the vessel to create and curate an entire experience for every guest – both onboard and ashore.
  • Exquisite service: Your yacht and crew are at your disposal – all meals, activities, and cruising are customized based on your preferences.
  • Pre- and post-arrangements: I can also book and manage your pre- and post-itinerary arrangements for your convenience, including all flights, touring, transfers, and accommodations.
  • Stress-free: An all-inclusive, fully managed approach creates a seamless and stress-free experience that is completely flexible and customizable.

Yes, it’s a fabulous way to travel!

💎 Hidden Gem Tip:  Winter Weather

There was wintry (and stormy) weather this week across the country.  Having a good travel insurance plan can help offset costs related to unexpected weather occurrences.

With the possibility of airline disruptions relating to weather, staying informed is key.  Make sure you have your airline’s app downloaded on your phone with notifications enabled and check FlightAware to see the status of your plane’s flight path before it lands in the airport where you plan to board.
