Happy Thursday Hidden Gem Travel community! It’s the first week of October and there are less than 100 days until the end of 2023. I honestly can’t believe how quickly time flies. I’ll be back in Europe this fall for a couple of weeks scouting the best hotels and experiences for my clients’ 2024 trips. Coincidentally last week, I read an article (and discovered an app) about set jetters shortly before having a new client consultation call with big fans of Game of Thrones. As you might guess, set jetters are people who love a movie (or TV show/series) and have a bucket list item to visit the place where scenes were filmed.

Thailand
A top-rated show that has made a big impact on travel trends in the last two years is HBO’s edgy show, White Lotus. Year one was set on the island of Maui in Hawaii; last year was Sicily, Italy. The cast was based at a luxury hotel in the Four Seasons chain both seasons. FAN ALERT – the next season (timing TBD) will be set in Thailand! As a preferred partner for Four Seasons hotels (my clients get amazing perks), I’ve had a virtual meeting with my contacts for their Thailand hotels and highly suggest that you book asap before filming starts and the show airs.

Norway
Attention Succession fans – the summit with Lukas Matsson and the Roy family was filmed in Norway in a jaw-dropping setting at the Juvet Landscape Hotel.
I recently attended a ‘Nordics Roadshow’ in NYC where I met with local partners in Norway (as well as Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Faroe Islands, and Greenland). I have the latest information to get you there (more details coming in a future newsletter but don’t wait if you’re interested already).
Note – there were also some incredible scenes at a villa in Lake Como, Italy too.
Jordan
Petra and Wadi Rum are the two most popular filming locations in Jordan, a bucket list travel destination for many people jet setters or not. Star Wars, Dune, oldie but goodie Lawrence of Arabia, Indiana Jones, and The Martian are on the list of shows filmed in Jordan.
