I’m just back from Egypt where the weather was perfect with sunny skies and mild temperatures. January is a terrific month for travel to Egypt and ideal for sightseeing and cultural exploration.
If Egypt has been on your travel bucket list, I encourage you to reach out soon to learn more about Egypt travel planning. While I was there, I saw many travelers from Japan and other countries, but very few Americans. Interest in travel to Egypt is growing, and as regional conditions continue to improve, more American travelers will be discovering this incredible destination. As I am often asked, I felt safe, secure, and well cared for throughout my journey.
As I typically do, I will be sharing my trip experiences and top planning tips over two newsletters. You can also read my Egypt trip preview on the website blog.
Read on for part one of my Egypt travel report and enjoy just a few of the hundreds of photos I captured along the way.
My Highlights
In my preview newsletter, I shared several trip highlights. I have customized this list based on my personal experiences.
*Seeing up close the mysteries and treasures of Egypt. Enjoy a learncation focused on ancient history and experience 2500 BC history brought to life by an expert Egyptologist guide.
*Visit the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx, including early private access and a camel ride with unforgettable views.
*Explore the tombs in the Valley of the Kings, including the Tomb of King Tutankhamun, by foot and from above in a peaceful sunrise hot air balloon.
*Sail the Nile River on a well appointed small ship and later admire the river from a historic hotel. The Nile truly is sapphire blue.
*Explore the spectacular Grand Egyptian Museum, soon to be home to King Tut’s treasures. A guided visit makes this experience especially rewarding.
*Dine on delicious Egyptian food including falafel, hummus, moussaka, and freshly baked pita bread found throughout the country.
*See Egypt at sunrise, sunset, and illuminated at night for completely different and magical perspectives.
These experiences highlight why thoughtful Egypt travel planning creates a once in a lifetime journey.
One Favorite?
It is impossible to choose a single favorite experience. This trip exceeded my expectations, and I was surprised and delighted every day.
Before traveling, I thought the Great Pyramid and Sphinx would be the main highlight. Instead, they were just two of many unforgettable moments. I believe this will be true for most first time travelers to Egypt, making it an extraordinary travel experience.
Is Egypt For You?
Working with an experienced travel advisor when planning travel to Egypt is key. Having visited Egypt and partnered with trusted local experts allows me to design personalized itineraries for each client.
A few considerations for Egypt travel planning include:
Time of year and seasonality. Temperatures can be extreme outside ideal travel months.
Mobility. Many sites involve walking and uneven surfaces. It is important to plan accordingly.
Early mornings. Sunrise sightseeing and travel days often begin early.
Group travel. Egypt is a fantastic destination for multi generation families with preteen children and older, as well as small groups of couples.
These factors help shape the right Egypt trip for your needs.
