Happy Thursday Hidden Gem Travel community! Call it serendipity – at the same time as the latest issue of Virtuoso Magazine arrived in my mailbox, I was on my way to New York City as an invited day guest on a beautiful cruise ship that was docked in Manhattan. The ship had come from Canada and was on its way to Miami. This month’s issue is called ‘Setting Sail,’ and if you’re a Hidden Gem Travel client, you’ll have found it in your mailbox too.
Traveling by water (via the Earth’s majestic oceans and rivers) is a travel style that’s becoming increasingly popular with so many different kinds of ships and exciting itineraries that are newly available. Personally, I love a vacation on the water with interesting ports of call. My Seabourn Experience
Seabourn Sojourn was docked next to the Intrepid Air & Space Museum on Manhattan’s west side on the Hudson River. Seabourn is the perfect experience for people who like an elevated, all-inclusive experience on a smaller ship – maximum of 600 fellow passengers – where you can travel by ocean to any continent of your choosing. Note that shore excursions are at an extra cost except for the included “Memorable” experiences.
My day allowed me to enjoy lunch onboard (delicious, varied buffet), a ship tour, and a presentation about what makes Seabourn special. Some notable features include:
- All suites have an ocean view, most have a verandah
- Numerous whirlpools around the ship
- Large Coffee and Sushi Bars
- Zero at Sea – people who don’t drink alcohol can enjoy craft cocktails
